Hypixel SkyBlock Patch Notes 0.20 - The Glacite Tunnels

Updated: 2024/April 9

Hello,

Starting today, thanks to the schemes of one particular Dwarf, experienced miners may now explore what lies beyond the Great Ice Wall. The Glacite Tunnels are harsh and unforgiving, with many once-lively adventurers having met a frosty fate down in the depths. So, the question is, will you fare any better?

Before you read on to learn what’s waiting for you down in the Glacite Tunnels, give the trailer a watch!

► The Dwarven Base Camp[]

The Dwarven Base Camp can be found on the other side of the Great Ice Wall, which signifies the end of Dwarven territory. Players may access this new area by using the Ticket Master’s Dwarven Railroad system after reaching Heart of the Mountain 7 and completing a short quest.

In the Dwarven Base Camp, aided by the advice of the few dwarves who dared venture this far and the familiar warmth of the campfire, players are safe from the bone-chilling cold and can plot their next move before heading off into the Glacite Tunnels.

While the tunnels are harsh and unforgiving, they host a variety of valuable ores, gemstones, and items that cannot be obtained anywhere else. Players capable of withstanding the cold will be able to gather these resources, while those with a less icy demeanor will find themselves crawling back to the safety of the campfire.

► New Collections[]

This update brings three new ores and, with them, three new collections! Umber, Tungsten, and Glacite are three new types of ore that can be found in the Glacite Tunnels. These ores have a higher block strength and require a higher breaking power than most other ores, so be sure to bring your best pick (or drill)!

These new types of ore are used in a number of recipes that will aid players down in the tunnels, and can also be refined and reshaped into useful items in the Dwarven Forge, such as keys and plates.

► New Gemstones[]

While the Crystal Hollows has been relatively well-explored by the Dwarves, the Glacite Tunnels have not been. As such, the four types of gemstones found only in this area remained undocumented - until now! Each of these new gemstones have a special effect when placed in a gemstone slot, but also another when placed in a chisel:

  • The new Onyx gemstone grants Crit Damage.
    • When placed in a Chisel, increases the chance of more treasures spawning within the Fossil Excavator minigame.
  • The new Citrine gemstone grants Foraging Fortune.
    • When placed in a Chisel, has a chance to highlight the location of a treasure at the start of the Fossil Excavator minigame.
  • The new Peridot gemstone grants Farming Fortune.
    • When placed in a Chisel, grants more Fossil Dust during the Fossil Excavator minigame.
  • The new Aquamarine gemstone grants Sea Creature Chance.
    • When placed in a Chisel, has a chance to grant bonus chisel charges at the start of the Fossil Excavator minigame.

What’s a gemstone without a gemstone slot? Along with these cool new gems, we have added gemstone slots to various farming, fishing, and foraging-related items. You can also expect future items relating to these skills to come equipped with relevant gemstone slots.

► New Stat: Cold Resistance[]

Cold Resistance is a new stat currently found only in the Glacite Tunnels. As players venture into the tunnels in search of valuable ores and gemstones, their cold meter will build up. Upon reaching 100 cold, the player will freeze, killing them outright.

In order to stick around for longer and gather more valuable materials, players will want to build up their Cold Resistance stat. This can be done by forging new items that feature Cold Resistance as a stat or through upgrading specific HOTM perks! For every 1 cold resistance the player has, cold builds up 1% slower.

► Heart of the Mountain 8, 9, 10[]

With this update, we will be introducing Heart of the Mountain tiers 8, 9, and 10. Perks in these tiers are upgraded using Glacite Powder, which is primarily gained by excavating and donating fossils, looting frozen corpses, and mining glacite ore.

Many perks found in these tiers are aimed specifically at Glacite Mineshafts - an exciting new type of instanced mining content!

► Glacite Mineshafts[]

While the Glacite Tunnels are vast, they are also static, meaning the map is always the same (similar to the Dwarven Mines). However, when mining, players will sometimes unearth the entrance to a Glacite Mineshaft. Players can enter these mineshafts alone or with party members and, upon doing so, will be teleported to a separate, private instance that other players cannot join.

What exactly is inside a mineshaft depends upon which one you find. Most mineshafts are themed around a specific type of ore or gemstone, such as mithril, titanium, amethyst, and even jasper. Some particularly lucky mineshafts also contain a gemstone crystal for players to pick up.

However, mineshafts are not all sunshine and rainbows; there are a large amount of dangerous mobs dwelling in the depths of most mineshafts. Not only do these enemies deal quite a lot of damage, but they also inflict cold upon hit. As you creep past these enemies, you might also spot some corpses clad in familiar armor sets littered around the area. Though there are no structure chests like in the Crystal Hollows, these unlucky adventurers of old might have left a thing or two behind…

► Frozen Corpses[]

In addition to valuable gems and ores, all Glacite Mineshafts also contain Frozen Corpses - all that remains of ill-fated adventurers who dared explore the tunnels in the past. Players may loot the backpacks of Frozen Corpses to receive a number of items, the quality of which varies by corpse type.

Items obtained from corpses include gemstones, goblin eggs, glacite powder, and more! Corpses that require keys can also contain enchanted books and gemstone crystals. The rarest corpse of all - the Vanguard Corpse, currently spawns only in a single mineshaft variant, and requires an expensive skeleton key to unlock. While this corpse boasts a large assortment of goodies, the luckiest of looters may find an item that is required to forge the best piece of mining equipment in the game.

Not only does the Pendant of Divan become the first equipment piece in the game to boast gemstone slots, but it also has a full-set bonus that grants pristine when in Mineshafts! The other three pieces of this equipment set will hopefully make their way into the game in the distant future.

► Fossil Research Center[]

Nestled in the corner of the Dwarven Base Camp stands the Fossil Research Center. Here, players may talk to Dr. Stone, who will introduce them to the process of fossil excavation! When mining in a Glacite Mineshaft, players will sometimes come across a Suspicious Scrap. Players can bring this scrap back to the Fossil Research Centre and place it alongside a Chisel to begin excavating!

➥ Fossil Excavator[]

Depending upon the quality of their Chisel, players will receive a limited number of clicks in the fossil excavator, and will have to locate as much treasure as possible before running out of clicks. All treasure uncovered will be kept, while anything the player fails to unearth will be lost. Minor treasures include various types of essence, fossil dust, and other materials, but there’s something even more valuable to be found!

Occasionally, a suspicious scrap will uncover a piece of a larger fossil. Fossils are comprised of a number of connected parts, the amount and layout of which is decided by the type of fossil you’ve found. There are currently 8 different fossils to find!

If the player can successfully uncover the entire fossil during the minigame, they will receive it as a physical item. Players can then donate their fossils to Dr. Stone in exchange for HOTM XP. Once a player has donated a specific fossil, if they find it again they’ll be able to take it to the Dwarven Forge, where they can restore it into a Pet!

➥ New Pets[]

After donating a fossil to Dr. Stone, you will unlock its corresponding Dwarven Forge recipe. If you obtain another version of the same fossil, you can take it down to the forge and restore it into your very own pet! Like the Ammonite, all fossil pets come only in the Legendary rarity. There are 7 new (mostly) prehistoric pets that can be obtained through this means, each with their own unique perks!

► Future Plans[]

➥ Glacite Tunnels - Part 2[]

With the Glacite Tunnels having been out first foray into instanced content for mining, we have lots of ideas for content we’d like to add to further fill out the tunnels. Part 2 of the Glacite Update is currently in the design phase, and will deliver new content in the form of NPCs, events within mineshafts, new collection and HOTM-related items, and maybe even some glacite-themed fishing content!

As part of this follow-up, we would also like to take some time to streamline the overall progression within the mining skill by making some key changes to recipes, outdated mechanics such as heat, and forge times. Our goal with these changes is to put mining as a skill in a stable position so that we can leave it for a prolonged period of time in order to focus on lesser-developed skills.

➥ Better Mayors[]

Better Mayors features new perks, perk revamps, and a brand new minister system! The main idea of this update is to make all mayors an attractive option to vote for. Mayors that come second in voting to non-special mayor candidates will be elected as Minister and have one of their mayor perks active in conjunction with the active mayor. The update is scheduled to hit Alpha soon for balancing and bug testing, so keep an eye out for it. More information will be available when the update goes on Alpha.

➥ Dragon Rush & Primal Dragons[]

You have seen this update more than a month ago on Alpha, and it hasn't been brought up since. Our development efforts have been directed towards completing the Glacite Tunnels in the last few weeks, causing a delay in progressing with this project. With the Glacite Tunnels now released, we can prioritize returning to this project and releasing it back on Alpha in the coming weeks to gather further feedback and bug test. One thing to note is that we have nerfed the Set Bonus for the Primal Dragon Armor, the exact changes will be revealed in the next Alpha session.

➥ Foraging[]

We’re happy with our current progress on the Foraging update and have just released a new design showcasing our work and what’s to come. Check it out here!

And that’s all for this update! We hope you have as much fun exploring the Glacite Tunnels update as we did making them, and we’ll see you again soon!

[April 9th] Hoppity’s Chocolate Factory

Updated: 2024/April 9

Hello,

Two years ago on April 1st we added a cookie clicker to the Booster Cookie. Last year we improved it, and this year we decided to make it an official part of the game.

Hoppity is a new NPC that will appear in Spring, every in game year.Being a Rabbit and all, of course he wants you to hunt chocolate rabbit eggs. They will spawn periodically during the whole duration of Spring on public islands.

There are 3 different eggs, and every in game day, each egg type will respawn at a different location, allowing you to collect them again. Every player can collect each egg, so if you are the first player to find an egg, you can notify where it is to the other players.

Right clicking an egg will roll for a chocolate rabbit. There are many different rabbits, and each unique rabbit you find will increase the production of Hoppity’s Chocolate Factory, which is the revamped cookie clicker.

You can find the Chocolate Factory inside the Event Menu, or from Hoppity. As your chocolate production increases, you will be able to unlock more and more upgrades and prestiges.Eventually if your production is strong enough, you will even be able to buy a few items from his shop!

While this is (mostly) an idle game, clicking isn’t supposed to be the intended gameplay, therefore clicking will only have a few upgrades and cap out at a very low tier.

We simply hope that those eggs will be an exciting addition to the game and that you will have fun with the chocolate factory.

But please give us your feedback in this thread!

If you encounter any issues - small, major, or critical; please report them here and make sure you select alpha.hypixel.net!

➥ Where is Better Mayors?

It’s currently still in development. We put the community project up early as we wanted to give you all as much time as possible to get your memento items. If all goes well, we hope to see y’all some time next week.
